As an artist, I document my relationship to the world through paint, focusing on color and texture. Whether a naturalistic or abstract study, I am recording my experience in order to create an artifact of my time. By definition, this object captures a unique cultural perspective and reveals values and influences. Ideally, my work is meant to be a catalyst for discourse and the creation of meaning and community.
My approach to this work is unconventional as I generate the textures by using tools other than brushes. Rubber scrappers and plastic cards serve as implements to freely address the canvas by scraping, swiping and stamping.
